Working in Indigenous Communities

As a journalist covering Indigenous communities my entire career, I’ve witnessed many newsrooms and organizations fail our communities. Many stories produced include harmful stereotypes, a misunderstanding or an oversimplification of the issues and a lack in the depth and knowledge to tell the story accurately.

This led me to create media trainings on how to report in Indigenous communities. In addition to facilitating trainings, I am available to consult on projects and help organizations create inclusive project plans that focus on building partnerships with Native communities and Indigenous photographers, artists and writers.
